HELMEPA

ART AUCTION TO SUPPORT GREEK SEAS

NANO was was chosen to participate in a charity gala alongside other very talented established Greek artists, to raise fund to protect our world’s oceans through the Hellenic Marine Environment Protection Association. Not only did the charity raise a very generous amount of funds to protect our planet, but on a personal note - my art piece sold for a much higher price than originally estimated. As an artist, it very rewarding to see your work valued by the public, and having that done to support a good cause is double the reward!

"Through this HELP art piece I am trying to encapsulate our world’s marine wildlife’s cry for help. The plethora of animal forms reminds us of the complex ecosystem our oceans host and all the organisms that are at risk. I intentionally even encompassed a human form swimming indicating that we are also putting our own selves at risk by not protecting our oceans. The use of blue colouring reflects the variety of water habitats which are at risk- from coastal shores to the deepest depths of the ocean, whilst the weakening colour vitality and more importantly - the vanishing feature of the art piece as the viewer passes by symbolises how, due to human neglect and continuous environmental destruction- the oceans cry for help is becoming all the weaker as more and more of our marine species are reduced and eventually vanish."
